John Franklin Candy was a Canadian – American actor and comedian. He was born on 31 October 1950 in Newmarket, Ontario, Canada, and died on 4 March 1994 at the age of 43 years.
He made his debut with a small part as a Shriver in Creeps by David E Freeman, a Canadian play about cerebral palsy. There was also a guest appearance in the children’s television series Cucumber and had a regular role on the TV series Dr. Zonk and the Zunkins from 1974 to 1975.
In 1979, he appeared in a minor role in Lost and Found and as a U.S. Army soldier in Steven Spielberg’s big-budget comedy 1941.
He rose to fame in 1981 with Stripes and has lent his voice to multiple characters in the animated film Heavy Metal.
John became hit when he appeared in Planes, Trains, and Automobiles with Steve Martin. Later he had a successful career and never looked back. His first lead role came with the movie Summer Rental in 1985.

He died on 4 March 1994 in Mexico where he was shooting for his film Wagons East. After finishing dinner he went to sleep in his room.
At late night he fell unconscious and was rushed to hospital with the help of his roommate. But unfortunately, he was declared dead. He was 43 years old.
The autopsy revealed his cause of death as a heart attack. There were multiple reasons for him to suffer an attack. His family history was the main aspect as his father and brother had died prematurely of a heart attack.
Candy was overweight and also did smoking, alcohol intake, and occasional use of cocaine. It is also said that he was under stress. He is cremated at Holy Cross Cemetery in Culver City.
